President Asif Ali Zardari approved changes in the formation of the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC). Previously, Balochistan had nominated Masood Ali Khan as a member of the commission. However, the president canceled the earlier approval and approved a new nomination instead. This decision finalizes the revised membership of the 11th NFC.
The 11th NFC was recently formed to include finance ministers from all four provinces. In addition, one expert from each province was added to the commission. This step aims to improve coordination and representation in financial decision-making. The NFC plays a vital role in distributing resources among provinces.
Alongside the NFC decision, President Zardari also approved the Criminal Laws Amendment Bill 2025. This bill aims to update and improve criminal laws in the country. The approval marks an important legislative development by the government. It reflects ongoing efforts to reform legal frameworks.
The 11th NFC formation comes amid ongoing debates between the federal and provincial governments. Previously, disagreements were reported especially between Sindh and the federal government. The inclusion of experts in the commission may help resolve such differences. The government hopes the new NFC will ensure fair resource distribution.
President Zardari’s approval signals the government’s commitment to governance reforms. It strengthens the framework for financial planning across Pakistan. Both the NFC and criminal law amendments aim to support national stability. Officials expect these changes to benefit provinces and citizens alike.
