PESHAWAR: A three days anti-polio campaign continued in 28 union councils of Shangla district where about 1,67,032 children under five years of age would be administered oral polio vaccine (OPV) to wipe out the crippling disease.
Shangla district anti-polio coordinator Dr Wajid Ali Khan told journalists that Deputy Commissioner of Shangla has enforced Section 144 for successful holding of the campaign and also decided to take strict action against those officials who refused to perform duty during the campaign.
The said union councils have been divided into 149 years for which
“581 teams have been prepared to cover the said union councils. These teams include six mobile, 27 transit and 34 fixed teams,” said Dr Wajid. Pillion riding in Shangla was also banned, he added.
