ISLAMABAD: The Institute of Space Technology (IST) on Thursday organised its seventh ‘Open House’ in the federal capital.
The students of the aerospace, electrical, mechanical, materials science, engineering and space science captivated the visitors by displaying their ‘Senior Design Projects’. Over 70 projects were displayed on the occasion.
Employers and guests who visited the event included a large number of people belonging to the academia, prestigious research and development organisations and representatives of different industries.
The innovative and useful projects, reflecting the research skills, displayed by the students were appreciated by the visitors. Employers took keen interest in the projects and actively interacted with the students.
They appreciated the students’ creativity and their grip on the subjects as the students explained their projects. The Open House achieved its purpose as the representatives of the industry and organisations interviewed several potential students.
IST maintains close collaboration with the IT industry and says it has helped develop a culture of research and development. Members of the industry proposed problems to the students, who then worked to find a workable and practical solution, thus strengthening the norm of research which is vital for any country.
The event holds special significance for research and development organisations and people from the industry as they get a chance of to evaluate the students’ skills of analysing a problem and coming up with a workable solution. The valuation of these skills helps in identifying potential employees from the graduating batch.
