On the directions of Inspector General Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab PoliceR17;s rescue and relief operation for flood victims is continuing with full force. Punjab Police spokesperson shared that the number of flood affectees rescued so far has exceeded 154,000, including 63,788 men, 45,337 women, and more than 45,000 children. Punjab Police has also shifted over 167,000 livestock from flood-hit areas to safe places. In Lahore alone, more than 6,000 citizens have been rescued and shifted to safe locations. More than 15,000 police officers and personnel across the province are participating in rescue and relief operations, while over 700 police vehicles and 40 boats are being used to transport affectees to safe places.
IG Punjab directed that in Lahore as well as all flood-affected districts, evacuation and rescue operations must continue without interruption. Security and patrolling should be enhanced in evacuated areas to protect citizens’ properties. At relief camps, displaced affectees must be provided full security, food, and basic necessities.
IG Punjab further instructed that close coordination should be maintained with PDMA, district administration, rescue, and security agencies, and that police patrolling must be carried out regularly in villages and settlements along riverbanks.
