ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal Tuesday said that the FATA University would be functional in November to provide quality education to the youth of the area.
The minister said the incumbent government believed in uniform development and was not oblivious to the problems being faced by the people of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
After the successful launch of Zarb-e-Azb military offensive in North Waziristan, the law and order situation had improved significantly besides improvement in economy, he added.
Ahsan said the Ministry of Planning and Development was holding a conference regarding FATA development and asked the parliamentarians from FATA to send their recommendations in this regard.
Commenting on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, the minister said it was a national project. “It is not a project for a single province but a national project and will be completed in phases from 2014 to 2030,” he added.
Ahsan said that out of total coast of $46 billion, $35 billion would be spent on energy projects. Sindh would receive $11.3 billion while Balochistan would have its share of $9.1 billion, he added.
He said FATA and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa would get benefits from the economic corridor as the project would pass on from these areas when it would be linked to the Central Asian Republics.
